SORRY, THIS PROPERTY HAS BEEN SOLD!
Private 15 acre tract now available at ELK RIDGE in Shannon County, Missouri! Paved road frontage on its north side and only a couple of miles from Eminence, Missouri which has the Jack’s Fork River and TONS of Public Land for additional hunting, fishing, camping, trail riding and exploring!
This is prime hunting and recreational land and it is only a couple miles from Eminence, Missouri and thousands of acres of National Forest (and other Public Land). The area is full of whitetail deer, turkey and is only a few miles west of where the Department of Conservation has released a large herd of elk! The elk population has been growing and it sounds like Missouri may be opening up an “Elk Season” in the future. If that happens then this property may be positioned perfectly to take advantage of the elk season.
This tract is centrally located with SO much to do in the area including hunting, trail rides, fishing, floating, and canoing in the Jack’s Fork River, and so much more – this property is a rare find!
The photo above is a late Autumn drone photo showing the little creek which crosses over the 15 acres. In this photo you can see the beautiful mixture of timber on the property which includes pines, red oaks, white oaks, hickories, sycamore trees and more.
We are looking southerly over the property (the white truck is parked on the property just south of Highway 106, which borders the north end of this large tract.
Elk Ridge is limited to about 15 tracts so the area will never be crowded. There are miles of trails running through Elk Ridge which are ONLY for use of the property owners and their guests and give you access to other parts of your property without having to create your own trail. Although every tract at Elk Ridge does have frontage on a public road, each property owner has use of the existing network of trails in order to access different areas of their properties. These trails are for four wheelers, side-by-sides (Razors) and foot traffic. Electric runs directly across the north end of the 15 acres (on the south side of Highway 106), which could be a huge bonus if you ever need it.
The photo above is an aerial map of the 15 acres. It measures about 1,900 feet from north to south and about 320 feet from east to west, giving it over 320′ of direct road frontage on Highway 106 along its north end. It also has a trail running over the northernmost part (just south of the Highway) and the easement trail system within Elk Ridge actually touches the southwest side of the property giving you additional access to a potential camping/hunting site on the south end of this large tract.
The property is the highest on the north end, by the paved road. As you go south the property appears to stay fairly level for about 100-200 feet, it then slopes down steeply into a valley (which has the small creek at the bottom) then as you continue going south it slopes back up to a ridge area (which you can access by using the easement trail system). As you continue going south from there it slopes down again and the topo map actually shows an additional small creek bed on the far southeast side of the property (we have not visited the southeast side of the property so we can not confirm what the topo map appears to show.
The drone photo above shows the little creek which appears to flow easterly over the property. In the late Autumn photo we are looking southerly by near the north side of the property.
The little creek probably does not flow year around – it is likely dry at different times throughout the year. But, the couple of times that we have visited the little creek it has been running.
The little creek is likely fed by springs that come out of the ground (either on the property or to the west of the property).

The map above shows the network of trails within Elk Ridge (yellow dashed lines on the map). These are not public roads, these are ONLY for the use of property owners and their guests (not for public use) and these existing roads can be used to access different areas of your property. These are VERY primitive roads (and they always will be). They are designed to be used for foot traffic, four wheelers or side-by-sides (Razors). These roads shown on map are permanent easements for property owners. The trail system connects to County Road 414 on the south end and Highway 106 on the north side of Elk Ridge.

The property is located about 3 miles west of Eminence, Missouri. The property is private and secluded (with an amazing amount of wildlife) but is also within a very short drive of Eminence. Even though this huge tract will keep you busy exploring, hunting and camping you may be interested to know that within just a few miles of the property you will find over 10,000 acres of National Forest and State Lands upon which you can also hunt, camp, trail ride and play!
Also, within just a few miles of the property you will find the very popular Jack’s Fork River as well as the Ozark National Scenic Riverway which is thousands of acres of Public Land that you can use to access hundreds of different access points along the Jack’s Fork River and the Current River.
In the aerial photo above we are looking southerly over the 15 acres and the white truck is parked at the north side of the property (just south of the paved road).
The Elk Ridge area was logged about 10 years ago (mainly of the commercial-sized red oak and white oak trees). You will still find quite a few medium and large trees on the property, but in addition to that you will find THOUSANDS of young oak, pine and hickory trees (as well as many other species). The recent photo below shows the nice mixture of timber on the property, as well as the little creek which crosses over the property.
In the aerial photo above we are above the little creek on the 15 acres. You will find a beautifulk mixture of timber on this property, as you can see in the photos/videos on this listing page.
This tract is subject to the Property Covenants/Deed Assurances as shown on our website (no mobile homes, etc.). Homes or cabins built on the property which are to be used as a residence must have a minimum concrete foundation size of 600 square feet (a simple 20 X 30 cabin would meet this requirement if built on concrete slab, a basement or a concrete stem wall/crawl space).
To see the standard Property Covenants please click here.
The area is full of deer and wild turkey and even some elk sightings. Excellent area for hunting and recreation!
The property is in an excellent location and is only about 3 miles from Eminence, Missouri. Within just a few miles of the property you will find dozens of popular rivers, creeks and points of interest (including a large amount of Public Land for additional hunting, camping, swimming, fishing and recreation).
The well known Jack’s Fork River is within about 3 miles of this property and is one of Missouri’s wildest and most scenic rivers. On the Jack’s Fork River you will find excellent fishing (specifically small mouth bass but also many other species) as well as great areas for floating, canoeing and kayaking. Alley Spring is a beautiful freshwater spring which is part of the National Scenic Riverways and is located only about 3 miles west of this property.
In the photo above we are facing east at the north end of the property. We are on the easement trail which is helpful in accessing the north end of the property. On the left side of the photo you can see the power line and to the left of that (although not visible in the photo) is Highway 106.
To get to the property from Eminence, Missouri take Highway 106 to the west for about 3 miles and the property will be on the south side (left side) of the road. If you are coming from Eminence you will need to go about 1,000 feet PAST the property and then go south on the approach that takes you off of Highway 106. Then, turn left on the easement trail and proceed back to the east for about 1,000 feet to get onto the property.
To get to the property from Springfield, Missouri just go east on Highway 60 to the town of Birch Tree. Keep going east past Birch Tree for a few miles and then go north (left) onto Highway E. Stay on Highway E for about 11 miles and then go east (right) onto Highway 106. Proceed about a mile to the property which will be on the south side (right side) of the road. Keep in mind you will need to use the existing approach going south off of Highway 106 which is about 1,000 feet west of the property.
The approach that comes off of Highway 106 and into Elk Ridge is about 1,000 feet west of this 15 acres. Just take the approach to go south off of Highway 106 and then immediately go east (well, after about 20 feet go east) onto the short easement road/trail that crosses over the northern edge of the property.
The property does have direct Highway frontage so if you wanted to talk to the Highway Department about getting your own approach you would be welcome to do so.
This is a LARGE property so please be sure to print out the maps from this listing so that you can really explore the acreage. You will definitely need a four wheeler or a side-by-side if you want to drive on the easement trails that take you onto the south end of the property (or you can go on foot). The drive to Elk Ridge may be a little tricky on your first visit but if you have all of the maps and directions it will make it much easier. We will be happy to email you the maps/directions if you would like, just let us know.
Above is a topo map of the 15 acres with approximate property boundaries. From the north end, the property appears to be fairly level for about 100-200 feet as you go to the south. It then slopes down steeply into a valley and at the bottom of the valley you will find the small creek. As you continue going southerly across the creek the property slopes back up and then levels off toward the south side of the property. As you continue going south the property slopes back down (for about the south 500-600 feet) and the topo map actually shows another tiny creek bed which may cross over the southeastern tip of the property. According to the topo map above, the two main “level areas” on the property would be the north side of the property and the part of the southern side of the property where it is accessed by the easement trail.
The trails which run through Elk Ridge may be helpful in accessing the southern part of the property if you bring your four wheeler or your side-by-side (not suitable for cars, trucks or suv’s).
This property has several areas that are steep, which is why it is priced lower than other tracts that we have offered of the same size (and this acreage has paved frontage AND has electric on site). Because of the paved road access you can get to the north side of the property in just about any type of vehicle BUT in order to access the south part of the property you would need to use the existing trail system which is only for four wheelers or side-by-sides. This property will give you some GREAT VIEWS but it is definitely rugged recreation land. The property is certainly “buildable” but it is likely that the best level site for building would be on the north end of the property. Because of the steepness of the rest of the property it would likely be best suited as a place to have a hunting and/or vacation cabin, and not a year around home. Or, just a place to camp, hunt, and enjoy life with your friends and family!
In the aerial photo above we are looking east while over the north side of the property (which is on the right side of the paved road). The white truck is parked on the easement trail which crosses over the north end of the property and provides access to the north end. The electric line is directly to the left of the white truck. – Although most of the tracts at the north side of Elk Ridge drop down almost as soon as you go south off of the paved road, this particular tract appears to stay fairly level for 100-200 feet as you go south from the paved road (which you can see in the photo above). This may present a great opportunity to create a driveway and a building/camping site tucked into the timber on the north side of the property.
The drone photo above was taken from over the south side of the property, looking northerly. Toward the lower left corner of the photo you can see the easement trail which touches the property toward its southwest side. If you look to the right of the trail you can see the level area which is on the southern side of the property. Way off in the distance you can just barely see Highway 106 which is the northern border of the property.
