This aerial map above shows the location of the property. The green area is the Mark Twain National Forest. The entire east side of the 30 acres borders the National Forest giving you direct access to about 100,000 acres of additional land on which you can hunt and play! The North Fork River is less than two miles from this well-located property.
The trail through the National Forest comes in to the northeast corner of the property. There is an access easement over the northeast corner of this 30 acres so that the person who owns the property to the north can access their property (you can see that on the map above). The access easement only applied to the northeast corner of this 30 acres so this is definitely a very private tract of land.
This trail begins at about the northeast corner of the property and leads to the south side of the property, ending at a cleared camping site.
PLEASE NOTE: This property has been leased out for several years for hunting and recreation. We have been told that the person who was using the property started building a very primitive cabin on the property. We have not been out there to see it yet. In fact, we have not seen this property at all for several years. You can expect that the trails and cleared sites will need to be mowed/brush-hogged. The land is basically flat on the northeast corner (where the road comes in). As you follow the trail to the cleared site the land slopes down and then back up again and the trail comes to a large cleared site which is level.
The area is known for its wildlife, especially deer and turkey. Build a little cabin and you’ve got your own hunting and fishing retreat!

To get to the property from West Plains, Missouri, go west on Highway 14 for about 15
miles then go north (right) onto County Road 279 which is a gravel road. You will see the sign for the Hebron Access to the North Fork River which is where you will turn off of Highway 14. Once you are on County Road 279 you will go about 3/10’s of a mile and then go left on Forest Road 749. Stay on the Forest Service road for 9/10’s of a mile then go left onto the short trail which leads to the northeast corner of the 30 acres. When you visit the property PLEASE print out the maps we have provided as it can be tricky the first time you drive to the property.
