Check out the video below to learn more about the Wild Horse Mesa area. This video does NOT show this specific property, it shows the general area around Wild Horse Mesa.
The Wild Horse Mesa is home to a large number of wild horses (mustangs) that roam freely! These horses are descendants of those used by Spanish explorers, brought to America in the 1500’s. We saw quite a few of these wild mustangs on our visit to the area – it was AMAZING to watch these wild horses run and play!

Other types of wildlife found around Wild Horse Mesa include mule deer, elk, pronghorn antelope, coyotes, small game, birds, eagles, black bears and bighorn sheep.
WHAT CAN YOU DO ON YOUR NEW PROPERTY IN WILD HORSE MESA?
Great question! Unlike many developments in Colorado, Wild Horse Mesa does not have overly restrictive property covenants. In fact, when we were driving through Wild Horse Mesa we saw numerous “non-traditional” homes and cabins. You can contact the community directly for additional guidance but our understanding is that these tracts are usable for homes of almost any size (although we saw no single-wide mobile homes at Wild Horse Mesa). Below, we have a couple of photos of homes/cabins that are within Wild Horse Mesa, which we have included to give you an idea about what other folks have done with their properties:

Again, the best guidance would come directly from the community of Wild Horse Mesa, but we thought it would be useful to share some photos of what “real world” people are doing on their properties here.
Now, let’s take a look at the actual property!
In the video below we explore the property. PLEASE NOTE: On the day we visited this property, it was very cloudy and it actually started to rain on us before we were finished. Normally, these clear blue skies showcase an even more impressive view of the nearby mountains!
The Interactive Map (below) gives you a good look at this tract as well as at the general area. You can zoom in and out and move the map around to see exactly what you want. You may have to zoom in or out to properly view the land:
Please refer to our interactive map above for additional property views and information. The property boundaries on the map are approximate but it should be very helpful for exploring the property (it is fully surveyed although it has been some time since the survey was performed so you may need a metal detector to find the survey pins).
